Tiger Woods will not play in any of golf’s four major tournaments this year. The 15-time major champion missed the deadline to enter the 2026 British Open, according to Sports Illustrated, and he also did not qualify for next month’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. Earlier this season, Woods had already been ruled out of the PGA Championship and the Masters. That means the 50-year-old will miss all four majors for the second straight year. The news comes just two months after Woods was arrested following a rollover crash near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida. Police said Woods was taken into custody on DUI charges after officers found two Hydrocodone pills in his pocket. Hydrocodone is a strong pain medicine. Woods recorded a 0.00 result on a breathalyzer test but refused to provide a urine sample. Soon after the arrest, he traveled to Switzerland for rehab treatment connected to pain-killer use.

Tiger Woods’ golf future remains uncertain as personal struggles continue away from the course

For many golf fans, this latest update feels difficult to watch. Woods has spent years fighting injuries, surgeries, and physical pain while trying to continue his legendary career. Last year, he also missed every major because of health problems.
The last time he missed all four majors in back-to-back seasons was in 2016 and 2017 when serious back injuries kept him away from the sport.Just days before his arrest, there was still hope that Woods could return to competitive golf. He had taken part in the finals of his TGL indoor golf league on March 24 and had not completely ruled out playing at the Masters. But everything changed after the March crash.Since then, Woods has mostly stayed out of the public eye. According to People magazine, he recently returned to Florida after rehab in Switzerland and spent time with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump. The outlet reported that the couple is “in love” and doing well together. Vanessa Trump also shared last week that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.Tracking data later showed Woods’ private jet leaving Florida again over the weekend and landing back in Switzerland on Sunday morning.Woods remains one of the biggest names in sports history despite not winning a major since his emotional Masters victory in 2019. His 2008 U.S. Open win was the 14th major title of his career, putting him just four behind Jack Nicklaus for the all-time record. But with another full season of majors now gone, questions around Woods’ playing future continue to grow.
