Vincent Keymer shines as one of the most brilliant young talents in the contemporary chess panorama. The player is not only the youngest grandmaster in Germany but also the one who ascended the fastest among his peers. The 18-year-old German, whose calm and intense concentration have become his trademarks, has won significant tournaments and defeated elite players prior to his 21st birthday. Compared to Lasker, the last world champion from Germany, many experts are of the opinion that he is the best chess talent that Germany has produced for a long time.
Vincent Keymer was born on November 15, 2004, in Germany. His chess talent became clear very early. By 2015, when he was still a child, he was already being talked about as a future star.
His big breakthrough came in 2018 at the Grenke Open. At just 13 years old, Keymer won the tournament with an incredible score of 8 out of 9. He finished ahead of 49 grandmasters, including several rated above 2700. That result earned him his first grandmaster norm and shocked the chess world. His performance rating of 2798 was the highest ever by a player under 14.
By January 2024, Keymer climbed to world No. 12 and became the highest-ranked player in the world aged 20 or younger. He also won Division II of the 2024 Chessable Masters, part of the Champions Chess Tour.
Today, Vincent Keymer is seen as a future world title contender and a new leader of German chess.

Keymer officially earned the grandmaster title in 2020, becoming the youngest grandmaster in German history. His progress did not slow down. In August 2021, he crossed a 2600 rating. By October 2022, he had achieved a rating of 2700 and had become a member of the exclusive "super grandmasters" club. In December of the same year, Keymer came second at the World Rapid Championship, with only Magnus Carlsen standing in his way. In 2023, Keymer made headlines at the World Cup. He came close to knocking out Carlsen in the fourth round and even won their first game.
