Jannik Sinner is still working with Darren Cahill at the Australian Open 2026, and the partnership is paying off in a big way. The Italian star is just two wins away from lifting the trophy in Melbourne for the third year in a row. He is also riding a 20-match winning streak that began in October 2025. At just 24 years old, Jannik Sinner has looked calm, sharp, and fully in control throughout the tournament. His strong form has once again pushed him deep into the Australian Open, where he is chasing history.
A successful team operates with its dedicated members who have worked together for multiple years. The coaching staff doubted Darren Cahill's ability to remain with the team after the 2025 season but the experienced coach chose to extend his stay for another season. Jannik Sinner's growth to global tennis excellence depends on his coach's continued presence who travels less often.
Jannik Sinner’s coaching and support team at the Australian Open 2026
Darren Cahill remains an important part of Jannik Sinner’s coaching setup in 2026. Cahill first joined Sinner’s team in July 2022 as a co-coach. Before working with Sinner, Cahill coached top players like Simona Halep, Andre Agassi, and Amanda Anisimova.
Cahill had earlier said he would step away after the 2025 season. However, he later changed his decision and agreed to stay for one more year. While he is not traveling to every event this season, he continues to guide Sinner during key tournaments, including the Australian Open.
Simone Vagnozzi works as Jannik Sinner's second co-coach together with Cahill. He began working with the Italian star in February 2022, just months before Cahill joined. The two coaches have assisted Sinner in achieving multiple Grand Slam victories while maintaining his position as a top-level player.
Fitness coach Umberto Ferrara also returned to Jannik Sinner’s team in July 2025. He was first hired in February 2022 and later let go in September 2024. His return has added strength and balance to Sinner’s physical training.
Alejandro Resnicoff joined the team as physiotherapist in September 2025, replacing Ulises Badio. Osteopath Andrea Cipolla also works closely with Sinner, while his father travels as the team’s chef during major events.
Jannik Sinner’s strong bond with his team has shown clearly in Melbourne. Next, he faces Novak Djokovic in the semifinals on Friday, January 30. Sinner leads their rivalry 6-4 and has won their last five matches. Djokovic, a 10-time Australian Open champion, is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title. A win would move Sinner one step closer to a rare third straight Australian Open crown.
