Terence Crawford’s rise from the tough streets of North Omaha to the top of world boxing is one of the sport’s great stories. Over a 17-year career, the undefeated champion has recorded 31 knockouts, won 18 world titles across five weight classes, and claimed three undisputed crowns. Forbes estimates that Terence Crawford, also known as “Bud”, has earned more than $100 million in total. His last fight alone reportedly brought him a $50 million payday against Canelo Alvarez.
Since beating Canelo in September to become the new super middleweight champion, talk of a rematch has grown louder. Reports suggest Canelo’s camp is eager to make the fight happen. But Crawford’s coach Bernie Davis has made the stance clear. The fight will not move forward without a guaranteed $100 million purse. Now, Forbes and even billionaire Warren Buffett have weighed in on Crawford’s success and mindset.
Warren Buffett believes Terence Crawford has “his head screwed on”
Forbes recently published a profile on how much wealth Terence Crawford has built in 2025. During the feature, Warren Buffett shared his view on the boxing star. The legendary investor is also a native of Nebraska and a long-time fan of Crawford.
He said, “I’ve seen an awful lot of fight champions that die busted, and the people around them got rich.” He then added, “I don’t think Bud is going to end up that way at all. He’s got his head screwed on.”
Notably, Buffett has attended several of Crawford’s fights. While he admitted that Crawford may never reach billionaire status, he praised his smart money choices. Crawford now owns 80 residential and commercial properties. These properties are spread across Omaha, Kansas City, and Colorado Springs. All of them were bought with cash.
According to Forbes, Crawford earns at least $2 million every year from brand deals and business work. His partners include Crown Casino, Riyadh Season, Everlast, and others. This steady income means he does not feel forced to rush back into the ring. He has also said that retiring unbeaten would be a “blessing,” just like Floyd Mayweather and Rocky Marciano.
Still, 2025 has not been free of problems. The World Boxing Council recently stripped Crawford of his status for not paying sanctioning fees in his last two fights. The WBC claims he owes $300,000 from the Canelo bout. Crawford responded with a strong, profanity-filled rant. The matter later reached the U.S. House of Representatives during talks on a bipartisan bill to amend the Ali Act.
For now, whether the $100 million valued massive payday against Canelo Alvarez happens or not, Crawford’s career inside and outside the ring has already secured his future!
