Tyson Fury hints at three big fights after reversing retirement and confirming boxing comeback
Tyson Fury has officially confirmed his return to boxing and has already named three possible opponents for 2026. The former two-time heavyweight world champion stepped away from the sport after losing twice to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. At the time, Fury said he was retiring again. However, as many expected, the 37-year-old has now decided to make another comeback.
Fury recently travelled to Thailand to begin training and shared updates with fans on social media. He posted a graphic showing himself facing Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk, and current WBO champion Fabio Wardley. With Fury back in training, talk has already shifted to who he could face next and how realistic those fights may be.
A long-awaited fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua remains one of the biggest possibilities. The all-British heavyweight clash has been discussed for years and would be one of boxing’s largest events. Reports previously suggested a $100 million deal for 2026 was close. However, serious doubts now surround the bout. Joshua was recently involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends and coaches. This has cast uncertainty over his immediate boxing future.
A third fight against Oleksandr Usyk is another option. Fury lost twice to the Ukrainian in 2024, and a trilogy bout has been mentioned for some time. Such a fight would give Fury a chance at revenge and a chance to settle their rivalry once and for all.
Fighting Fabio Wardley could offer Fury a different path. Wardley currently holds the WBO title, and beating him would allow Fury to become a three-time world champion. Fury later shared content suggesting Wardley could be a realistic option this year. He also posted an image of himself with his old belts, expressing strong belief and faith that anything remains possible in his career.
Fury has been training in Thailand alongside Kevin Lerena, the reigning WBC Bridgerweight champion. He has shared videos of running and sparring sessions online. In one update, Fury said he felt better than the previous week. He noted that he felt sharper, faster, and more prepared as he entered his second week of training and was ready for whatever comes next.
Promoter Frank Warren also confirmed Fury’s interest in returning. He explained that Fury is willing to fight if his conditions are met. Warren added that Fury has stayed active, kept fit, and maintained a steady routine, even without officially training for a specific fight.
