However, he refused to take a urinalysis test. He was then arrested, charged with DUI involving property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, and released from jail around 11 p.m. ET the same night.

Sheriff Budensiek shared during a press conference that Woods was “cooperative but not trying to incriminate himself.” He also said Woods appeared “lethargic on scene,” though authorities were clear that alcohol was not involved, which matched the breath test results. The refusal to take further testing played a role in the charges.

After his release, Woods was seen for the first time leaving the Martin County jail. In photos, he appeared quiet and upset while sitting in the passenger seat of a car. The images quickly spread online, adding more attention to the situation.

This incident comes just days after Woods returned to golf at the TGL indoor league finals, marking his first appearance in over a year. According to ESPN, his Jupiter Links GC team lost to Los Angeles Golf Club in that match.

Woods has dealt with several injuries in recent years. In 2021, he survived a major crash in Los Angeles that led to serious leg injuries and long surgery. Since then, he has also faced a ruptured Achilles tendon in 2025 and back surgery later that year.
