Conor McGregor looks relaxed and confident during his comeback preparations. The former two-division UFC champion has not fought since July 2021. He broke his leg in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Now the Irish star is again active inside the gym. McGregor hopes to return at a proposed UFC White House event on June 14. The fight is not confirmed yet. Still, he has trained throughout the year as if his comeback bout is already scheduled. The 37-year-old also gave fans a glimpse of his training this week. He posted a video on Instagram, where he has more than 46 million followers. The footage showed grappling drills and a playful sparring exchange. McGregor worked on submissions and ground control. He also joked with his training partner during the session. The video quickly spread across social media. Fans now believe the former champion is serious about stepping back into the Octagon soon.

Conor McGregor jokes with teammate as comeback talks and contract issues continue

Conor McGregor uploaded the clip on his Instagram account. The post showed him dominating an outmatched partner on the mat. He secured a head-and-arm choke from side control. While applying pressure, he joked like a police officer. “You’re under arrest,” McGregor says as he applies the submission. “Stop resisting,” he adds just before getting the tap from his sparring partner. He also captioned the post, “Stop resisting!”The playful moment suggested he is enjoying training again.
However, his return still depends on business matters. McGregor recently revealed that the UFC’s new $7.7 billion Paramount agreement affected his deal. His previous contract was tied to pay-per-view revenue. The promotion has now moved away from the PPV model. Because of that change, a new contract must be signed before he fights again.Last month, McGregor explained his position on a stream. He said, “I’m going into negotiations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in February. I’m very interested to go. They’ve actually got a new deal with Paramount, it’s worth $7.7 billion. So the company has 4xed its profit. My contract, essentially, is void right now because there’s no more PPV, whereas my contract was based on PPV sales. I’m the highest-generating PPV fighter of all time. The PPV system is done, I’m due a new contract. So, we’re going into negotiations in February, and I’m very interested to see how it goes.”In simple terms, McGregor indicated he plans to sit down with the UFC soon. He suggested the new broadcast agreement changed the financial structure of his deal. He believes he deserves a fresh contract before returning to competition.
