Rory McIlroy Got Called a Disney Hero by Comedian Troy Hawke
Only moments before the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick on July 9, 2025, professional golfer Rory McIlroy received an odd but funny compliment from comedian Troy Hawke, who has a habit of greeting sports stars and other celebrities in an odd way. Troy Hawke said to McIlroy,“You’re like a plucky hero from an animal-based Disney adventure.”
The 36-year-old golfer was surprised. He smiled and quietly said,
“Thank you,” before looking around, clearly confused. The video, posted online that same day, gained millions of views in just hours. It was filmed outside the clubhouse entrance and showed other golfers being greeted in funny ways too.

“naughty Hemsworth,” and Justin Rose was told he looked like someone who is quiet in WhatsApp chats but still respected as a leader. The light-hearted moment was meant to lift spirits before the tournament.
