They were scheduled to meet at UFC 303, but McGregor pulled out due to injury. Since then, fans have been waiting for clarity, while both fighters continue to tease a possible showdown.

Michael Chandler has repeatedly said that his fight with Conor McGregor is still alive. He added more fuel to the fire during a recent appearance on CBS’ New Year’s Eve broadcast. When asked about his plans for next year, Chandler hinted strongly at a summer fight tied to the White House event.

Chandler suggested that there is strong talk, even if nothing is official yet. He explained that while nothing can be confirmed or denied, the idea of facing McGregor at the White House is very real. He added that the plan sounds like him giving McGregor a strong, patriotic-style beating on the White House lawn sometime in the summer.

Despite the growing buzz, the UFC has not begun formal negotiations for the card. UFC president Dana White has made it clear that matchmaking for the White House event will only start in February 2026. Still, the scale of the card is expected to be massive. US President Donald Trump has claimed that the event could feature eight or nine title fights, making it one of the biggest shows in UFC history.

Conor McGregor has also added to the speculation. The former two-division champion, who has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021, recently hinted at his involvement. McGregor posted an image with the White House behind him, surrounded by supporters, with a single-word caption suggesting he sees himself as a savior figure. The post appeared inspired by a famous scene from Batman vs Superman.

For now, McGregor vs Chandler remains uncertain, but the hints are getting louder.
