Team GB bobsleigh athlete Adele Nicoll has revealed she wants medals in two different sports in the same year. The 29-year-old Welsh star competed at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in the women’s monobob. She finished 18th but remains positive about her Olympic journey. Nicoll will now race again in the two-woman bobsleigh event on Friday. Alongside winter sport, she is also a three-time British shot put champion and hopes to compete for Wales at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.Nicoll first travelled to the Beijing Games as a reserve athlete four years ago. Now she is officially an Olympian and one of Britain’s multi-sport athletes. The thrower-turned-pilot has balanced athletics and bobsleigh for years. She admitted she was unhappy with her monobob performance but is determined to improve. The athlete believes both sports can work together. She also hinted she could return to athletics only five months after the Winter Olympics.

Inside the double life of Adele Nicoll, Team GB’s bobsleigh Olympian and athletics star

Adele Nicoll explained that her final monobob run did not show her real ability. Speaking to BBC, she said it was possibly the poorest run she had ever produced and felt it was unfortunate that it happened during the Olympics.
Still, she remains motivated for the team event later this week. The Welsh athlete shared that she still hopes to represent Wales in shot put at the Commonwealth Games. She said wearing the Welsh vest again would be special and she believes it is achievable, although her plans after Milano Cortina will decide everything. She suggested she would never completely rule out the chance.Training for bobsleigh has changed her body significantly. She has lost around 20kg while improving strength, speed and mental toughness. She explained that lifting sleds in freezing conditions tested her resilience and helped her grow stronger mentally. According to Nicoll, the sport fits well with athletics, but she must carefully plan and prioritise to manage both disciplines. She also made it clear that bobsleigh is now her main focus and she hopes to win Olympic medals in the future.Nicoll finished eighth in the women’s shot put at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Off the track, she has built a strong online following, posting training and recovery routines. She joked to fans that she tried acting like a glamorous influencer during a sauna and sea session in Wales but admitted it did not suit her personality. The athlete also enjoys supporting other sports. In 2024 she attended UFC 304 in Manchester and was especially excited to watch Molly McCann compete.
