“Let’s move on”: Francis Ngannou fires back as Dana White announces Conor McGregor comeback during Netflix MVP MMA event

Francis Ngannou had a strong night at the first MVP MMA event on Netflix, but a major UFC announcement quickly became part of the conversation around his win. Just before Ngannou walked out for his fight against Philipe Lins, UFC President Dana White confirmed on Instagram Live that Conor McGregor would return to the UFC to face Max Holloway at UFC 329.

The timing of the announcement caught attention because of the long history between Ngannou and the UFC. The former heavyweight champion left the promotion after contract talks broke down, and both sides have publicly criticized each other several times over the years. So after Ngannou defeated Philipe Lins in dominant fashion, reporters naturally asked him if White’s announcement during his walkout bothered him.

Francis Ngannou made it very clear that he was not interested in discussing the UFC’s decision to reveal McGregor’s comeback during his event. Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Ngannou dismissed the situation and said he was fully focused on his own career.

“What do I have to do with that? So I should stop my walkout and look at what’s going on?”

Ngannou then explained that he had no interest in getting distracted by UFC news while preparing for his own fight.

“I do not care, bro. Let’s move on, life goes on. I am doing my stuff here, I am doing good, I have no problem. Everybody can do whatever they want.”

The comments quickly spread online because fans know the relationship between Ngannou and Dana White has been tense since the fighter left the UFC in 2023. Ngannou was once the promotion’s heavyweight champion, but disagreements over money, freedom, and contract terms eventually pushed him away from the company.

Meanwhile, boxer and influencer Jake Paul also reacted strongly to the UFC announcement. Paul, who has often criticized the UFC over fighter pay, suggested the timing of the news showed that the promotion wanted attention during MVP MMA’s event.

“Yeah, that’s cool, bro. Drop it during our event, does not matter. That just shows how pressed they are. Little insecure boys trying to piggyback off our event, trying to put some news over the top of us. Not going to work, buddy.”

Even with the outside noise, Ngannou’s performance remained the biggest story of his night. The former UFC champion looked sharp, stayed calm throughout the event, and showed that his focus remains firmly on his own future rather than what is happening inside the UFC.
