The talk around a UFC fight at the White House is getting louder. Fans are excited and fighters are speaking openly. And one matchup keeps coming up again and again, Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira. With June 14 being discussed as a possible date, the idea feels big, historic, and serious. But behind the hype, there are still many unanswered questions.
Jon Jones has shown interest in the fight more than once. So has Alex Pereira. The respect is mutual. The timing feels right. Still, nothing has been confirmed. UFC President Dana White has not fully backed the idea, especially after the recent Tom Aspinall title unification situation. That hesitation has slowed everything down.
Jon Jones breaks silence on UFC White House fight as Alex Pereira pushes for showdown
Jon Jones recently spoke to The Schmo during Dirty Boxing 5 and shared his thoughts in a calm and honest way. He made it clear that he is staying ready, but he also knows the final decision is not his.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, Schmo. I’m working out. I’m eating healthy. I’m living the lifestyle. I’m walking the walk,” Jones said.
“I don’t really know what’s going to happen, but regardless, man, I take it one day at a time.
Some things are just out of my control.”
Jon Jones also spoke about his mindset beyond fighting. “Whether I fight again or not, I feel wonderful. I feel blessed. I’m so grateful for this life God has granted me.”
While Jon Jones stays patient, Alex Pereira is pushing forward. Since winning back the light heavyweight title from Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320, Pereira has been very clear about what he wants next, a heavyweight fight against Jones.
Alex Pereira explained his reasons during an appearance on the Connect Cast show. “I’m 38 years old, you know? I’ve got to think about my career too,” Pereira said.
He also added, “We’re both big names. If I lose, if he loses, nobody really loses. It’s all good.” The interest is real on both sides. The buzz keeps growing. But until the UFC makes a final call, the fight remains uncertain.
