Now, that same step has come back again. And this time, it’s official. A private matter from 2017 has quietly returned and been finalized just weeks ago in a Florida courtroom.
What happened between Miguel Cabrera and his wife Rosangel Cabrera
On May 14, 2025, Rosangel Cabrera filed for divorce from Miguel Cabrera in a Florida court. This was her second time doing so. The first time she had filed was back in March 2017. At that time, the couple had been going through issues, but Rosangel Cabrera later took back the request.
In the new filing, Rosangel Cabrera stated that their marriage was
“irretrievably broken.” Miguel Cabrera responded to the court with signed paperwork agreeing to the divorce. A judge then finalized the split on June 18, 2025, according to documents shared by TMZ Sports.
The couple had been married for more than 20 years. They got married in 2002 in Venezuela. While no reasons were clearly written in the latest court filing, Rosangel Cabrera did ask the court to honor the terms of the postnuptial and marital settlement agreements that were made in 2017.

Miguel and Rosangel Cabrera were together during his entire MLB career. Miguel Cabrera, now retired, spent most of his baseball years with the Detroit Tigers. Their relationship began long before his professional success.
In her original 2017 filing, Rosangel Cabrera had cited problems but gave no detailed public comments at the time. This time, she also stayed quiet.TMZ tried to contact Rosangel Cabrera lawyer but didn’t get a reply.
The divorce was finalized just a few months after Miguel Cabrera fully retired from MLB at the end of the 2023 season. He played his last game with the Detroit Tigers in October 2023 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
