Donald Trump finally reacts to his long-time friend
Tiger Woods' horrific accident. Trump did not offer many details about Woods’ arrest. Speaking briefly to reporters, Trump sounded concerned, choosing his words carefully while acknowledging the situation without diving into specifics.
Trump’s remarks came before authorities confirmed the full scope of the incident, including Woods’ arrest. That gap between early concern and later developments only extended the focus on what occurred in Florida that afternoon.
Donald Trump responds to Tiger Woods' car crash
Donald Trump addressed the crash shortly after arriving in Miami, standing near Air Force One. His response was short but revealing. “I feel so bad. He's got some difficulty -- there was an accident, and that's all I know,” Trump said. “A very close friend of mine, he's an amazing person, an amazing man. But some difficulty. I don't want to talk about it.”
Trump made it clear he was standing by Woods, even as questions began to build. The two share a long history, often seen together on golf courses and speaking highly of one another in public. Also, for context, Woods is in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, who was previously married to Donald Trump Jr.
What happened to Tiger Woods?

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Beach Road in Jupiter Island just before 2 PM. Woods was driving a Range Rover when he approached a pickup truck towing a trailer. Investigators say the vehicle attempted to overtake the truck at high speed, clipped the trailer, and rolled over onto its driver side.
Despite the impact, Woods managed to crawl out through the passenger side. No serious injuries were reported, and the other driver was unharmed. Still, officers at the scene noticed signs that raised concern.
“DUI investigators came to the scene here, and Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment. They did several tests on him. Of course, he did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account, but they did do some in-depth roadside tests,” Sheriff John Budensiek said.
Woods was taken into custody and transported to jail. There, he submitted to a breathalyzer test, which showed no alcohol in his system. However, he refused to take a urine test.
“We really weren't suspicious of alcohol being involved in this case, and that proved to be true at the jail. … But when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused. And, so, he's been charged with DUI, with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.”
The arrest means Woods will remain in custody for several hours as part of standard procedure. Officials noted he was cooperative but cautious during questioning.
The incident comes at a time when Woods had been working his way back into competitive golf following multiple surgeries, including recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon and earlier leg injuries from a 2021 crash. Just days before the accident, he had appeared in the TGL finals, raising hopes of another return.
