“I did overreact”: Neymar publicly apologises to 18 year old Robinho Jr after slapping him during Santos FC training session

Neymar apologises as Santos deal with dressing room tension

Neymar clarified that he regretted how he handled the moment and accepted that his reaction crossed the line. He explained that he had already spoken to Robinho Jr. and his family earlier, offering a sincere apology. According to Neymar, the situation escalated quickly during training, and although both players were involved, he admitted his own mistake was more serious . He added that the matter had been discussed within the squad, and both players had apologised to each other in front of the group.

Robinho Jr., is the son of former Brazil international Robinho. In the media interaction he confirmed that there was physical contact during the altercation. However, he also stated that Neymar immediately realised his mistake and apologised several times. He admitted that he got upset considering Neymar has been his idol since childhood. The youngster also said he accepted the apology and no longer had any issues with his senior teammate. He also dismissed speculation about leaving the Santos FC. He said he remains committed to Santos and wants to contribute more in the future.

Neymar suggested that the issue became bigger because of his global profile and appeal.
