Former UFC champion Julianna Pena backs US Military’s action in Venezuela, reveals her relatives suffered in the South American nation
Julianna Pena, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion known as “The Venezuelan Vixen”, has publicly supported the recent United States military action in Venezuela that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. Pena shared a long message on Instagram in both English and Spanish. In the post, she explained her strong reasons for backing the move and how her family’s history shaped her view.
The MMA fighter spoke about her deep connection to Venezuela through her father. She also opened up about her experiences as a child visiting the country. She described how she fell in love with its culture, history, and natural beauty. Pena also detailed how her family’s lives changed over the years after Maduro took power and how dangerous it became to travel there. Her message expressed hope for a new future for the nation.
Julianna Pena used her Instagram platform to express support for the United States and President Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela. She began with a statement about her mixed heritage and the story behind her fighting nickname. She said she is proud of her ties to the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, and Native American roots. The nickname “The Venezuelan Vixen”, she explained, was given to honor her father’s lineage and shaped her MMA identity.
Pena recalled happy memories of visiting Venezuela with her family when she was young. She said the country was once rich and full of promise. But over the past decade and a half, she said everything changed when Maduro’s rule brought chaos. Pena said that what was once thriving became dangerous and unstable. She said her relatives were warned not to go back because of fear, suffering, and difficulties they faced under Maduro’s leadership.
She stated that these personal experiences influenced her view on the US operation. Pena said she fully supports what the administration achieved on January 3. She expressed hope that Venezuela might begin moving toward freedom and a better future, similar to the country she remembered from her childhood. Pena added that she remains proud to be Venezuelan, even if others do not accept that identity.
Notably, many Venezuelan-born UFC fighters also voiced similar reactions on social media.
