Daniil Medvedev is looking to turn around his clay-court season at the Italian Open 2026 in Rome. The former World No1 has struggled for consistency on clay this year after early exits in Monte Carlo and Madrid. Despite the disappointing results, the Russian star remains positive about his game ahead of the ATP Masters 1000 event. Meanwhile, his wife, Daria Medvedev, has grabbed attention on social media during her vacation in Dubai.

Daria recently shared pictures from a beach outing in Dubai, where she was seen wearing a black bikini set. She completed her stylish look with sunglasses, diamond earrings, and simple bracelets. While Medvedev prepares for his opening match in Rome, Daria’s absence from his player’s box has become noticeable among fans. The Russian tennis star has often spoken about the important role his wife has played in both his career and personal life over the years.

Daniil Medvedev stays hopeful despite difficult clay season

Daniil Medvedev has not enjoyed the best clay-court swing this season. He suffered a first-round defeat against Matteo Berrettini at the Monte Carlo Masters and later lost to Flavio Cobolli in the Round of 16 at the Madrid Open. However, the Russian believes his performances were better than the final results suggested.

Speaking ahead of the Italian Open, Medvedev explained that he was happy with the level he showed in Madrid. He said the match against Cobolli was intense and filled with high-quality tennis, even though it ended in defeat. The World No. 9 added that he is carrying many positives into Rome and hopes to raise his level further during the tournament.

The Russian star also reflected on the support he receives from Daria. Medvedev shared that his wife has helped him see life differently and brought more confidence into his personality. He explained that she has always been his biggest source of support. He said that she has taught him how to deal with challenges in a calm and positive way. According to Medvedev, Daria’s confidence and outlook on life have greatly influenced him both on and off the court.

Medvedev will now begin his 2026 Italian Open campaign against Tomas Machac in the Round of 64. The Russian previously won the Rome Masters in 2023 after defeating Holger Rune in the final while dropping only one set throughout the tournament.
