Andy Morrison breaks silence on Ramsay Hunt syndrome admits no good news as recovery takes unexpected turn

Andy Morrison has spoken openly about his health, and the update is not easy to hear. The former Manchester City captain revealed that his recovery from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome will take much longer than first expected. In a recent video shared on his X account, he explained that doctors have not given him positive news so far.

He said things clearly and did not try to hide how tough it has been. At 55, Morrison is now dealing with a condition that affects his facial nerves and causes serious symptoms. Even simple things like smiling or talking have become difficult. Still, he is trying to stay strong and keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Speaking in his video, Andy Morrison gave a direct update about his situation. He said, “Good evening. We are now at week 10 and I thought I’d do a little update. I got a letter from the specialist I saw last week. There is no good news.”


He then explained how serious his condition is right now. He added, “There is a test you can do, where one is the least and six is the worst and I’m between five and six.” This shows how difficult his current stage is. Doctors had earlier said recovery could take a few weeks or up to a year, but now it looks like the longer timeline is more realistic.


Even with that, Morrison is trying to find small positives. He shared, “If I lift… can you just see a tiny bit of movement? That’s a big positive. The brain is beginning to repair the nerves.”

He also spoke about how the condition is affecting his daily life. Morrison said, “The dizziness, the vertigo and the brain fog makes you feel drunk all the time. It’s exhausting.” He even shared that after helping his daughter move house, he had to rest for two days because of how tired he felt.


Despite everything, he is not giving up. Morrison said, “I will dig in and do what I have to do to get back to the best possible me.” At the same time, he admitted there are emotional struggles too. He explained how frustrating it feels when he cannot control his own facial movements.


Still, his mindset remains clear. He said, “There are good days and bad days.” That simple line shows how he is taking things one day at a time.

Morrison, who also played for clubs like Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, and Huddersfield Town, is now focused fully on recovery. He even shared that he hopes to attend an upcoming match, showing his love for the game is still strong.
