Terence Crawford claims historic victory over Canelo Álvarez
Super-middleweight champion Canelo Álvarez took on welterweight titlist Terence Crawford in a long-awaited matchup at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and while Crawford was two weight classes up, he took the win by pure skill, speed, and tactic: unanimously. Crawford won by scores of 116–112 and 115–113 (twice) to go to 42–0 with 31 knockouts.
This win in the four-belt era makes Crawford the first male fighter to become an undisputed champion in three different weight classes, now ranging from super lightweight, welterweight, and super middleweight.
It was a masterful fight. The way best it can be one where Crawford was in control of the pace up from the first bell. His ability to adjust to Canelo's power and counterpunching really showed after the fight as it proved many as to why he may be the most complete fighter in the sport today.
Not only does that win place him of elite company from now on in the annals of boxing history, but it also begins the dialogue in regards to his standing amongst the all-time greats.

Following his monumental win, Terence Crawford was asked about comparisons to Floyd Mayweather Jr., a fighter often hailed as one of the greatest of all time. Crawford responded by stating,
"Floyd Mayweather was the greatest in his era, I’m the greatest in my era. There ain’t no need to compare me to Floyd or Floyd to me!." He made it clear that he’s focused on building his own legacy rather than being measured against anyone else. Even Canelo Álvarez, despite coming up short, praised Crawford’s remarkable skills, saying,
"I think Crawford is way better than Floyd Mayweather."
