NAGPUR: All the district units affiliated with

Vidarbha

Hockey Association (VHA) have accused the secretary of

Maharashtra Hockey

Association (MHA) Manoj Bhore of misleading them. The VHA units alleged that Bhore is asking them to accept MHA affiliation even when the matter is subjudice.

Following the ‘one state, one association’ guideline, the

Hockey India

(HI) had merged the Vidarbha body with the MHA. The VHA, unhappy with losing its identity, had approached the high court and the matter is subjudice.

In a press conference held at the VHA ground on Monday, the representatives of various districts claimed that Bhore is trying to create friction among Vidarbha units.

“We want to save the game of

hockey

in Vidarbha. We will stay with VHA till the court gives it final verdict over Hockey India’s decision,” the district officials said.

The district units believe that if they affiliate with the MHA, Vidarbha players will hardly get opportunity to play the nationals. Officials claimed that they are receiving WhatsApp messages from Bhore about affiliating with the MHA.

“Even former VHA secretary Pramod Jain has asked some of us to take MHA affiliation as the VHA is ‘finished’,” they said.

When contacted, Bhore refuted the allegations and said he was working for the betterment of Vidarbha hockey.

The press meet was attended by Mohammad Iqbal (Parbhani), Javed Qureshi (Jalgoan), Akshar Baig (Amravati), Nilesh Ingle (Bhandara), Sanjay Bais (Akola), Mahenda Mane (Gadchiroli), Mohammad Sajid Sheikh (Gondia), Samir Pathan (Chandrapur), Krishna Joshi (Wardha), Sahid Sayyad (Yavatmal), Rajesh Sukhdeve (Bhandara) and Yagya Singh (Nagpur).
