Harendra Singh has stepped down as the chief coach of Indian women's hockey team, citing "personal reasons" in an email to Hockey India on Monday.
According to a report from news agency PTI, former coach Sjoerd Marijne from Netherlands might return to lead the team.
Marijne had previously guided the team to a fourth-place finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before departing in August 2021.
Harendra took charge of the women's team in April 2024 after his stint as the United States men's hockey team coach.
His earlier accomplishment includes coaching India's junior men's team to victory in the 2016 World Cup in Lucknow.
The Indian women's team has struggled recently in international competitions. They managed only two victories in 16 matches during the FIH Pro League 2024-25 season.
Their poor performance has resulted in failure to qualify for the upcoming season.
