NEW DELHI: India capitalised on a shaky German defense, scoring three goals to secure a victorious start in the London leg of the FIH Pro Hockey League on Saturday. Led by Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian team outclassed the world champions with goals from drag-flicker Harmanpreet (16th minute), Sukhjeet Singh (41st), and Gurjant Singh (44th).

Germany, initially aggressive, failed to maintain their momentum against the world No. 5 Indian side. With this win, India now has 24 points from 13 matches, placing them third in the standings. Argentina holds second place with 26 points from 14 matches, while the Netherlands leads with 26 points from 12 games.

Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was instrumental in India's defense, effectively countering Germany's relentless attack in the first quarter and blocking two penalty corners. Harmanpreet's successful penalty corner conversion in the second quarter's first minute shifted the game's dynamics.

Sukhjeet Singh extended India's lead in the 41st minute with a precision shot past the German goalkeeper, after a well-executed connection with Abhishek. Shortly after, Gurjant Singh secured India's dominance by scoring the third goal, assisted by Jarmanpreet Singh.

Germany, making a return to competitive play after a four-month break, struggled with coordination, and squandered 12 penalty corners. PR Sreejesh's outstanding goalkeeping skills thwarted three attempts in the first quarter alone.
