CHENNAI: K Madhu scored a brace while S John netted one to help Central Excise edge past India Bank 3-2 in the Shriram City-CHA Senior Division

League at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Tuesday. In the other match of the day, AGORC blanked Greater Chennai City Police 4-0.
Madhu put Central Excise ahead in the 16th minute through a brilliant field goal but the taxmen, despite creating quite a few a chances, couldn’t score any more goal in the first half.
Indian Bank didn’t lose heart after conceding the lead and came back stronger after the breather and scored two back-to-back goals as Stalin Abhilas and Tamilarasan found the target in the 47th and 56th minutes respectively to snatch 2-1 lead.
At one point when it looked almost certain that Indian Bank would romp home with a 2-1 win, it was Madhu’s brilliance that brought Central Excise back into the game again as he scored the equaliser in the 66th minute.
John then netted the winner in the 67th minute.
Earlier, Vinothkumar drew the first blood for AGORC in the 25th minute while Senthilnayagam R doubled the lead in the 33rd in their team's 4-0 win over Greater Chennai City Police. The other two goals for AGORC were scored by Dhamu P (41st) and Shanmugam V (53rd).
