Chhattisgarh beat Andhra 7-4 in Junior hockey meet

Chhattisgarh registered a 7-4 win over Andhra in group G match of the Under-17 boys' National Hockey Championship at the MHA Mahindra Stadium on Sunday.

MUMBAI: Chhattisgarh registered a 7-4 win over Andhra in group G match of the Under-17 boys' National Hockey Championship at the MHA Mahindra Stadium on Sunday.
Chhattisgarh team trailed its opponents twice. But, after equalizing the score for the second time in the 22nd minute, they took a firm hold on the proceedings to go 4-2 up at the break, before holding sway in the latter half to emerge victorious.
In other matches, Maharashtra thrashed Goa 10-1 in group C, after leading 6-1 at half time.

Rajasthan drew 2-2 with Patiala in group D. Uttarakhand trounced the Baroda District Hockey Association 14-2 in group A.

Chhattisgarh 7 (Shahrukh 2, Nilesh, Mohd Jubair Ahmed, Sumeet Patle, Rahul Rajak, Raja Khan) beat Andhra 4 (V Shriranga 2, Yerriswamy, J.A Bhagat Babu).
