Chandigarh's Roop Singh fired an amazing seven under 62 to grab the round two lead at the PGTI Feeder Tour event being held at the Madhuban Meadows Golf Course in Karnal on Wednesday.

KARNAL: Chandigarh's Roop Singh fired an amazing seven under 62 to grab the round two lead at the PGTI Feeder Tour event being held at the Madhuban Meadows Golf Course in Karnal on Wednesday. The leader now has an overall score of 11 under 127. Deepinder Singh Kullar of the DLF Golf & Country Club and Karan Vasudeva of Delhi are placed joint second at nine under 129. Kullar also shot a 62 in round two. The cut was applied at even par 138. Roop Singh (65-62) produced a near-flawless 62 on Wednesday thanks to eight birdies against a lone bogey. Singh was on a roll on his first nine (10th to 18th) as he knocked-in six birdies as a result of some brilliant chipping and putting. The Chandigarh-based professional,who has earlier been a runner-up on the PGTI Feeder Tour, picked up two morebirdies and a bogey on his second nine to end up on top of the leaderboard.Roop Singh said, 'My round got going with two good putts from justoff the green on the 11th and 12th that led to birdies. I'm a littledisappointed that I missed eagle opportunities on both these holes though. Itwas good to make birdies on all the par 5s today.
My aim in the final round willbe to shoot a score of around four to five under in order to stay on top of theleaderboard.' Deepinder Singh Kullar's (67-62) bogey-free 62featured some exquisite chip-putts and placed him joint second at nine under129. Karan Vasudeva (65-64) shares second spot with Kullar. Rajiv Kumar Jatiwaland Bennie Guman are tied fourth at eight under 130. Praveen Kumar Bhadana(63-72), the overnight leader, slipped to tied 17th in round two after he shot a72. His total now reads three under 135. Mahinder Singh (79-61) of Chandigarh set a new course record when he shot an eight under 61 in round two on Wednesday. Mahinder, however missed the cut, as he totaled two over 140 after two rounds. Maniram Sharma (69-70) of Karnal also missed the cut since his total read one over 139. The Chandigarh Wrestling Association is organising the State Sub-Junior and Junior Wrestling Championships for boys and girls om May 14 and 15 at the Wrestling Coaching Centre in Sector 30. The the state teams would be selected for the forthcoming junior and sub-junior national wrestling meets. The junior nationals would be at Jammu.
