HILTON HEAD ISLAND, April 18: A solid round of two-under 69 took Daniel Chopra to tied 23rd place after the opening day of the $5.5 million Verizon Heritage.
Chopra shot 34 on his outward nine and registered a 35 on his way back at the par-71 to be three behind the leaders.
There is a three-way tie at the top with Major winners Justin Leonard and Davis Love III joined by fellow American Lucas Glover after they came home with rounds of 66 at the 7,697-yard course on Thursday.
It was a steady round from the India-born Swede as he went through his day's work without dropping a shot. The two birdies came early on the par-five second and fifth holes.
But he had to be content with 13 straight pars after that and could not gain a shot on the par-five 15th.
There were not too many mistakes from Chopra in round one as he found 79 per cent of fairways and hit 72 per cent greens in regulation.
He had 29 putts for the round and a 100 per cent sand saves record.
