BANGALORE: Young S Chikkarangappa shot a stunning five-under 67 in the second round to open up a huge nine-shot lead over
Rahul Ravi in the Toyota Etios Southern India Junior Golf Championships at the KGA on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old, playing his first junior eventof the season, took his two-day total to eight-under 136 in the senior category.Ravi was second on one-over 145, one ahead of Harjot SinghSoni.
Chikka got off to an excellent start, holing a chip from 50yards on the first hole for a splendid eagle. He had birdies on the 2nd, 5th,ninth, 13th and 14 holes. Although a little off with his iron-play, theBangalore teenager was solid with his putter. Chikka's bogeys came on the 7th,12th and 18th holes.
In the corresponding category in the girls'section, Aditi Ashok, despite an eight-over 80 card, still had a six-shot leadover Milli Saroha. Aditi was up in Category 'B' as well.
In the boys''B' Category, Piyush Sangwan (152) was seven shots ahead of challenger VirajMadappa.
