Monaco Grand Prix 2025 results: Lando Norris beats Charles Leclerc to claim second victory of season, calls it a "dream"
McLaren’s Lando Norris has finally won the Monaco Grand Prix, his second win of the season after the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. "Monaco, baby! It's a dream" he reacted on the team radio as he crossed the finish line after starting from pole. The competition was tight as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc had won both the first and second free practice sessions and started the race from second position and ended up crossing the finish line in the same position. And in the third spot was the usual suspect, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who could have lost out on the podium but managed to grab it in the end.
A disappointed Leclerc later said on not being able to win the race despite his best efforts, "Good job, I guess not much more we could have done today. It's a shame but we tried everything." He further added, "At the end of the day, we lost the race yesterday. We should have done a better job, Lando did a better job and he deserves the win. It is above our expectations here, I thought we would struggle to be in the top 10 so it has been a good weekend. But I wish I'd won. Being born here, seeing all the Monegasque behind me is very special. It warms my heart to be at home and have so much support."
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen also could have made it to the podium, but his decision to delay the second pit stop until the very end killed all his chances of a podium finish. He ended up in fourth position, while Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton finished third.
Williams drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz played like a team as they locked out competitors on the track so that at least one of the team’s drivers could take a lead. They however, finished ninth and tenth, respectively.
Things were already not looking good for Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. Neither of them delayed the pit stop, and as Russell overtook Williams driver Alex Albon by touching the chicane, he was handed a drive-through penalty as well, making it compulsory for him to have not two but three pit stops during the race. He ended up eleventh.

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly hit Racing Bulls’ Yuki Tsunoda from behind at the Nouvelle Chicane. While Yuki surprisingly continued with the race despite sustaining damage to the rear end of his car, Gasly retired from the race. Later, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso drove into the escape road due to some issue and retired from the race. He walked down to the pit lane.

Charles Leclerc made it very difficult for Lando Norris to catch a breath as he was all over him, just looking for a space to pass through. As Norris was nearing the finish line, he even asked on the radio, “Where is Oscar? I need him to put Charles under pressure.” He was supposedly expecting Piastri to play like a team. But it paid off in the end.A disappointed Leclerc later said on not being able to win the race despite his best efforts, "Good job, I guess not much more we could have done today.
