“This one feels good”: Antonio Felix da Costa enjoys bathtub celebration after Jeddah E-Prix victory
Antonio Felix da Costa was clearly on cloud nine after winning his first race with his new team, Jaguar TCS Racing. He switched from Porsche to Jaguar for Formula E Season 12 and went winless last season despite bagging four podiums. With the victory in Jeddah, da Costa feels he has finally settled in with his new team after the initial challenges of moving. Expressing himself after the race, he revealed his feeling of finally having arrived and more.
He took to his Instagram Stories to share his message after the race. He said, “All right guys, this is always a good sign. That’s my win number 13 here in Formula E, unlucky for some. My first Dak Attack with Jaguar TCS Racing. It’s only our fifth race together but we got one of these already, more to come. Let’s go!”
Sharing his feelings after the victory in Jeddah, the 34-year-old also said in a statement, “This one feels good! Changing teams is a massive workload and there are a lot of things to learn, plus new faces and names. I’m happy to get this done by race five. We’ve been having good pace but we haven’t been able to capitalize on it, so I’m happy to give this one back to Jaguar TCS Racing.”
“I knew when I had a little bit of a gap and Attack Mode over my rivals that only a big drama could really take this away from us. But you know in racing, it’s never over until it’s over. I had all these alarms flashing on my dash and I kept asking, ‘Do I need to manage something?’ ‘Do I need to go slower?’ They told me to acknowledge the alarms and crack on! It was a little bit stressful, but it’s a great feeling when you know it’s only up to you to bring this one home, and I’m very happy to do it.”
Da Costa was the first of the lead group to activate both of his mandatory 350kW, all-wheel-drive Attack Modes and pulled a gap on those behind through the second round of activations, enough to hold on for the win with 2.5 seconds to spare at the finish line. The victory also marks six wins in nine races for Jaguar TCS Racing.
Da Costa now stands in seventh position in the Formula E Drivers’ Standings with 39 points. He is tied with Andretti’s Jake Dennis.
