Oliver Rowland exits Dubai for the desert amid Middle East tensions: “Better safe than sorry”

Formula E World Champion Oliver Rowland lives in Dubai and has shared an update about his well-being amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The Nissan driver shared glimpses from his road trip in the desert with his wife, Lauren Rowland, and their children, Harper and Hennie, as he chose to leave the city, which was hit by explosions. He said he preferred to take action in time rather than be sorry later. He shared pictures and videos from his car ride in the desert.

Oliver Rowland heads to the desert with family amid Middle East tensions

Oliver Rowland took to Instagram to share a car selfie of his family during their drive to the desert. He captioned it: “We packed our bags and a couple of packed lunches and headed off on a road trip.”

In another message on his Instagram Stories, he wrote: “In response to all the messages we have received, we are all fine and we are extremely grateful to the UAE for protecting us during this difficult time. We made the decision to leave Dubai early for the desert. We didn't feel in any immediate danger, but we felt it was better to be safe than sorry in case things escalate beyond our imagination! Here's hoping for peace to be restored in this wonderful place that gives my family and me a wonderful life!”

He also shared a video from the road trip as he struggled to drive on an unkempt path suggested by the satellite navigation. He wrote alongside it: “The sat nav brought us on an interesting route.”

Oliver Rowland has a four-year-old daughter, Harper, who often accompanies him to the podium at Formula E races. He and his wife, Lauren, also welcomed a baby boy, Hennie, in November last year.

Oliver Rowland was busy with daddy duties after Jeddah E-Prix

Just four days ago, Oliver Rowland shared several moments from the recent races and his time at home doing daddy duties. “Life in and out of the paddock recently. Next stop,” he wrote, hinting at the upcoming Madrid E-Prix about three weeks later.

The Nissan driver won the Formula E World Championship in July last year. He continues to be in form and is third in the Drivers’ Standings this season with 49 points. He has already secured three podiums in five races, with the third coming recently in Jeddah. He will head to Spain for the maiden Madrid E-Prix scheduled for March 20-21.
