Monaco E-Prix 2026: F1 stars Christian Horner, Carlos Sainz, Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg attend iconic Formula E race

It was a star-studded gathering at the Monaco E-Prix on Saturday as several big names filled the grandstands to watch the iconic Formula E race. Formula One drivers Carlos Sainz Jr., Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg were all present for the Round 9 race. Former Red Bull boss Christian Horner also made an appearance at the event, which saw Nyck de Vries claim victory for Mahindra Racing. Here is more from part one of the recently held Monaco E-Prix.

F1 brigade at Monaco E-Prix

The glamorous Monaco crowd gathered on the streets of the Principality to witness the iconic Monaco E-Prix on Saturday. Former Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner was spotted greeting former F1 driver Mark Webber at the event. The pair were among several well-known names from the Formula One world in attendance.

Nico Hulkenberg was photographed at Circuit de Monaco alongside his wife and daughter, posing for cameras with his daughter sitting on his shoulders.
His Audi team-mate Gabriel Bortoleto was also present to watch the Formula E race. Earlier in the day, Bortoleto had shared several pictures from a karting session in the city with fellow F1 drivers Oscar Piastri, Alex Albon and others. “Natural habitat,” he wrote in the Instagram caption alongside the pictures.

The race also turned into something of a reunion for the F1 drivers, many of whom grew up competing alongside current Formula E drivers during their junior racing careers. With Formula One’s new regulations set to bring a near 50/50 split between internal combustion and electric power, the Monaco E-Prix also offered them an opportunity to observe Formula E’s advanced energy-management systems before they return to Monte Carlo in a few weeks for the F1 Monaco Grand Prix.

Cupra Kiro co-owner and actor Idris Elba was in high spirits in the paddock on Saturday after Cupra Kiro driver Dan Ticktum secured pole position in qualifying, while team-mate Pepe Marti claimed his maiden Formula E podium with a third-place finish.

F1 Academy Managing Director and former Venturi Racing Formula E CEO Susie Wolff also attended the Monaco E-Prix. She is married to Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff. Model and creator Olivia Ponton was also among those present in the crowd.
