Hugh Barter steps up to drive for Lola Yamaha ABT in Miami FP0
Lola Yamaha ABT Simulator Test Driver Hugh Barter will drive for the team at the Miami Rookie Free Practice on January 30. He aims to utilise his Formula E simulator experience on track as he gets behind the wheel of the Lola car at the event. He is not new to the GEN3 Evo, which he also drove at the Berlin Rookie Test in 2023 and again in 2025.
Expressing his happiness at getting the opportunity to race in Miami, Barter told FormulaE.com, “It’s a privilege to continue to work with Lola Yamaha ABT on development for both the current Formula E car and the GEN4 car that will be competing from next season. Taking part in Rookie Free Practice is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to once again getting behind the wheel of the Lola T001 and translating everything we’ve achieved in the sim to the track.
”
Lola Yamaha ABT Team Principal Mark Preston also spoke about giving Barter the opportunity to race in Miami. He said, “We are very pleased that Hugh is returning to the track with Lola Yamaha ABT. He has provided invaluable feedback both in the sim and behind the wheel of the GEN4 car we are currently developing, so we look forward to getting additional input from him in Miami while giving him crucial development time on track.”
