RoundGlass Punjab FC
will reopen their main academy next month and will follow and adhere to all
Covid-19
protocols.
"We're going to reopen the main academy in January 2021. We are following government-mandated restrictions carefully and are completely ready to invite players back to the academy for training. We will first invite our under-18 and under-16 groups to the academy, then we will bring back other groups as well. We will maintain high-standard SOPs as we've been doing for the first team. We're also visiting the grassroots academies and plan to reopen them soon," director of football
Nikolaos Topoliatis
was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the club.
Topoliatis has also been looking to explain the club's vision and plans to other stakeholders.
"Our first objective was to meet the officials of rural academies and explain to them our long-term vision and plan. After that, we wanted to meet local officials of the
Punjab Football Association
and explain to them our vision, besides discussing the football education plan we have for our academies. We're out scouting at the moment and are assessing small groups of players in rural areas. We plan to invite them to our main academy for trials once we reopen it," he added.
The club is also planning to have grassroot centres in Punjab in the coming year.
"We're planning to open more than 15
grassroots and development centres
in Punjab in 2021. We'd like to develop young players from all these centres. Simultaneously, we're also focusing on improving the skills of coaches. We believe the plan we've put in place will enable us to raise the standard of football in Punjab," explained Topoliatis.
