Onkar Jadhav from IES VN Sule Guruji, Dadar, was handed the best player trophy while Rizvi's Rugved Insulkar was handed a trophy for the highest runs scored (181) in an innings of the tournament. Anjuman's Khizar Dafedar was the best player in the Giles Shield.
Cherish triumphsPlaying three rounds - quarterfinals, semifinals and final - in one session proved too much for the 12-year-old Nivedita and favourite Cherish D'Souza was certainly lucky to get the better of the fighter from Chembur Gymkhana in a close girls' singles under-13 final of the Nutrela-Mahrashtra State level Talent Search badminton tournament, conducted jointly by Active Sports Academy and Khar Gymkhana on Sunday. Nivedita went through two gruelling matches one after another - both ties going to the wire - and still displayed tremendous fighting qualities before going down to Cherish at 21-19, 21-19.
