Mumbai ties may be shifted
MUMBAI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) may take away all NFL matches from the Western India Football Association (WIFA) and share it between New Delhi, Ludhiana and Goa if the Cooperage ground is not ready by the February 6 match between Air India and Mohammedan Sporting.
The AIFF has been forced to shift Mahindra United's NFL match for a second time, this time against Fransa Pax FC Goa, scheduled for Jan 29, to Nehru Stadium (Goa) a day later.
1x1 polls
Both teams refused to play at the Cooperage because of the pathetic ground condition. Mahindra were forced to play their home match against JCT Mills in Goa on Jan 17 as the Cooperage was in shambles following a wedding held at the venue on Jan 5 and 6.
Following formal protests from both club presidents, Alan Durante (Mahindra) and Mickey Pacheco (Fransa) who flew down to Mumbai on Thursday to have a look at the ground, the AIFF sent its match commissioner B S Chavan to inspect the venue and report back.
