KOLKATA: Kolkata giants
Mohun Bagan will start their training for the upcoming 2016-17 season on Wednesday (July 6, 2016) at the club ground. The training will start to prepare for the upcoming 2016-17 Calcutta Football League Premier Division, that is expected to start later this month. The training will start from 8am on Wednesday.
Shankarlal Chakraborty, who was the assistant coach of the team for the last two seasons, will be the chief coach of the team for the
Calcutta Football League Premier Division 2016-17.
It will be Chakraborty who will begin the pre-season training of the green and maroons.
Sanjoy Sen, who has been at the helm of the team for the last two seasons and has guided Mohun Bagan to the I-League title in the 2014-15 season before taking them to Federation Cup glory in May 2016 in Guwahati, will be back in charge of the team after the end of the team's Calcutta Football League Premier Division campaign.
Having missed out on the I-League title in the 2015-16 season after being in a strong position at one time of the league, Mohun Bagan will surely be keen to win back the I-League title this time round. However, before that, comes the Calcutta Football League Premier Division challenge, a title that Bagan have not won in the last few seasons. They will hope to change that this season.
The green and maroons recently have signed striker Darryl Duffy of Scotland for the upcoming season. Duffy was playing for Salgaocar FC previously.
