However, the biggest talking point from the Mohun Bagan camp on Monday is that the team's head coach

Sanjoy Sen

, who underwent a bypass surgery last month, came down to meet the players. He interacted with them for a brief period and encouraged them for the upcoming tournament.

Five of Mohun Bagan's new recruits - Cameroonian striker Aser Pierrick Dipanda Dicka, midfielders

SK Faiyaz

and Dipendu Dowary, defender Rana Gharami and goalkeeper Shankar Roy - joined training on Monday. All five had played for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the recently-concluded

Calcutta Football League Premier Division

campaign.

Two other foreigners, Australian defensive midfielder Diogo Ferreira and Japanese midfielder Yuta Kinowaki, arrived in the city late on Sunday and will join training from Tuesday.

Mohun Bagan, who finished runners-up in the Calcutta Football League Premier Division behind East Bengal, will train on the artificial turf at the Barasat Stadium from Tuesday till Saturday in order to be well prepared for the Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup, which will also be played on artificial turf.

"The CFL is now in the past. The focus is currently on the Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup and we are preparing for that. Apart from training on the artificial turf at the Barasat Stadium, we will also be reaching Sikkim two days before our first match in order to acclimatise to the conditions," said Shankarlal Chakraborty, who like the Calcutta Football League Premier Division campaign will in charge of Mohun Bagan in the Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup as well.
