KOLKATA, Sept 26: Mohun Bagan on Tuesday beat East Bengal 1-0 in a closely fought match of the IFA Premier Division League, which also saw some mindless acts in the dying minutes leading to marching orders for Bagan's star striker Baichung Bhutia and EB's Brazilian find Lucas.
The only goal of the match was scored in the 48th minute by the green and maroon outfit's striker Endem, who after receiving a long pass from medio Lalkamal Chakraborty at the top of the penalty box, made no mistake in hitting the ball into the net with a perfect right-footer.

East Bengal put up pressure after conceding the goal, but its attempts were thwarted by a solid Bagan defence.
The red and yellow brigade, which is still the front runner for the title, got their best chance to equalise in the 72nd minute, but striker Dipankar Roy shot the ball into the hands of Bagan custodian Sangram Mukherjee from within the danger zone.
However, in the 87th minute, things suddenly took an ugly turn with the sending off of Baichung. Baichung advanced menacingly into the East Bengal penalty area and was challenged by Gurpreet when the former pushed him. A free kick was awarded by the referee in favour of East Bengal.
Baichung got into an argument with the referee over the decision, leading to the red card being shown to him.
East Bengal, however, not only failed to grab the opportunity, though in the dying minutes, but lost the advantage when their Brazilian striker Lucas hit Bagan medio Lalmohan on the face during the second minute of the four-minute injury time and was given marching orders by the referee.
