(MSC) mourned the death of Indian
football
legend
Chuni Goswami, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 82 following a
cardiac arrest
.
Goswami, who captained the 1962 Asian Games gold-winning football team, was known for his shooting, dribbling skills, powerful headers, speedy sprints and ability to dismantle the opposition defence were unmatched.
"We at Mohammedan Sporting Club are deeply saddened to know about the sudden passing of legendary Indian footballer Subimal "Chuni" Goshwami. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts, MSC tweeted.
Not just on the football field, Goswami’s achievements on the cricket pitch were also noteworthy.
With his all-round cricketing abilities, Goswami lead Bengal to the 1971-72 Ranji Trophy final.
Mohun Bagan tweeted, "We're deeply saddened by the passing of former player and club Legend Sri Subimal (Chuni) Goswami, aged 83. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time."
