Liverpool FC International Academy-DSK Shivajians were done in by Dempo SC 0-1 after conceding a goal in the final minute of regulation time in the Bandodkar Gold Cup 2016 at the Rosary Football Ground in Navelim, Goa, on Sunday.
Despite dominating the game, LFC-DSK Academy failed to convert their chances, as ex-LFC-DSK Academy player Osmiro Trindade (90th minute) scored the winner for local side Dempo SC in the Group-B opener, a press release from LFC-DSK Academy said.

The loss meant LFC-DSK Academy (0 pts) are third in Group-B behind leaders Sporting Clube de Goa (3 points) and Dempo SC (3 points). For the record, Sporting Goa beat Snows FA 4-0 in the other Group-B game.
After putting on some early pressure, LFC-DSK Academy went extremely close on two occasions in the opening quarter. However, both Lalruatpuia and Rohit Kumar failed to test the rival custodian.
Dempo SC, who defended deep, had a close chance of their own when LFC-DSK Academy goalkeeper Sayak Barai handled a back pass inside the box in the 37th minute. Skipper Sairut Kima blocked the resultant indirect freekick from inside the box to keep the score goalless going into the breather.
The second half was a similar story as LFC-DSK Academy continued to create chances aplenty pushing up in numbers, but they lacked the killer finish in the final third.

Into the final minutes of the second half, substitute Nikhil Mali – on for Lalruatpuia – had the best chance to seal the game in favour of LFC-DSK Academy. The lanky attacker got into the clear but shot straight into the rival keeper from point blank range with just three minutes remaining on the clock.
The miss cost LFC-DSK Academy as a defensive lapse allowed Dempo SC to capitalise and take the lead in the final minute of the game. Winger Hayden Fernandes floated in a freekick from the left flank to find Osmiro Trindade and the striker converted with a first-time finish past the helpless Sayak Barai in the LFC-DSK Academy goal to hand Dempo SC a narrow win.
