NEW DELHI: It is time when India is getting a taste of some European soccer success-first with the launch of a star-studded Premier League Soccer and now current EPL champions
Manchester United carrying the coveted trophy to India.
But for former United star Denis Irwin, India should first get its foundation right before thinking big on the world stage.
"Rubbing shoulders with greats like Favio Canavaro and Robert Pires is huge but to make it to bigger leagues, India work to build a proper foundation to bring out players," said Irwin.
However, when it comes to scouting talent, he doesn't undermine the huge market that is on offer for the English clubs in this part of the woods.
"A lot of clubs have started their academies in India. But it will take time to get players to play in the EPL," added Irwin.
