It is still not sure when the season can finally commence but

Indian Football Association

secretary Joydeep Mukherjee stays hopeful of conducting the league. However, for that to happen he will have to push back the end of the season and, with that in mind, he had a meeting with the

Cricket Association of Bengal

president

Avishek Dalmiya

on Wednesday. Snehashis Ganguly, secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal, was also present at the meeting.

"In normal times and circumstances, after the football season gets over in late September or early October, the cricket season begins and the grounds at the Kolkata Maidan are used by the Cricket Association of Bengal to organize matches. We are hopeful of organizing the matches of the Calcutta Football League.

However, we still don't know when we will be able to start and, whenever we do, there is absolutely no chance of finishing the season at the time we normally do.

Thus, we have requested the Cricket Association of Bengal president to allow us to use three grounds beyond our stipulated season-end time," said the Indian Football Association secretary Joydeep Mukherjee.

"Since the Calcutta Football League matches would not be held right now, the Cricket Association of Bengal wants to start their ground preparation process before the normal schedule. It was a very fruitful meeting." he added.

Mukherjee further mentioned that he wants a cordial association between the Cricket Association of Bengal and Indian Football Association at all times.
