Gawli in race for best player award

Dempo SC players Mahesh Gawli and Climax Lawrence and East Bengal midfielder Mehtab Hossain have all been nominated in the Best Indian Player award category for the third Indian Football Awards.

KOLKATA: Dempo SC players Mahesh Gawli and Climax Lawrence and East Bengal midfielder Mehtab Hossain have all been nominated in the Best Indian Player award category for the third Indian Football Awards, organized by the Football Players' Association of India, it was announced in the city on Monday.
In the Best Foreign Player category, the nominees are Ryuji Sueoka of I-League champions Salgaocar SC, Beto (Dempo) and Okolie Odafa (Churchill Brothers).

The last two have switched allegiance to Churchill and Mohun Bagan, respectively, this season.
The race to win the Best Young Player award will be between former Indian Arrows players Jeje Lalpekhlua and Raju Gaikwad and Churchill's Lenny Rodrigues. And quite expectedly, Karim Bencherifa (Salgaocar) and Trevor Morgan(East Bengal) have been nominated for the Best Coach's award along with Dempo's Armando Colaco.
