Extra keeper cover for Dempo

PANAJI: Ahead of their all-important AFC Cup semifinal with Lebanon���s Safa FC on Tuesday, Dempo���s first thoughts are on the last line of defence.
Coach Armando Colaco picked three goalkeepers for the trip to Beirut with Tyson Caiado ready to step in should Abhijit Mondal fails to recover from his thigh strain.
"Abhijit trained for a while before we left for Beirut, but I am not really convinced that he is fully fit.In such an important match, we must leave nothing to chance," said Armando.
Satish Kumar has been asked to prepare himself for a final decision will be taken only after a scheduled training session on Monday morning at the Sports City stadium in Beirut.
Midfielder Peter Carvalho has replaced Joe Rodrigues among the 20 while Armando is mulling over the possibility of introducing Clifton Gonsalves as a surprise weapon if Ranty Martins and Mboyo Iyomi continue to misfire upfront. "Since our qualification, almost everyone seem to suggest we are the better-placed team. But, I am having nothing of it. Not for nothing has Safa reached thus far. Having played in Lebanon in the group stages, I must say it is an extremely difficult venue," said Armando.
