If United are to win a fourth European Cup, they need a dominant display from their most gifted player. The England forward cut a forlorn figure in his last Champions League final, but switching to a deeper role has given him more space to torment defenders. Barca beware.

Arguably the bargain of the season. The Mexican striker has gone from early-season substitute to the focal point of United's attack. His lethal finishing and clever movement could easily unhinge the Barca rearguard.

A constant blur of energy, the South Korean will be used to disrupt Barca's midfield flow. Able to play several positions effectively and gives more power to United's counter-attacks.

Often used as a central midfielder in United's most important matches as the Welsh veteran's vast experience and supreme ability bring calmness and sophistication to their play.

A limp effort in the 2009 final defeat against Barcelona made him something of an outcast for a while, but the midfielder's vision on the ball and ability to break up play has persuaded Ferguson to restore him to the team.

Likely to be selected ahead of his twin brother Fabio and John O'Shea for the right-back slot. The young Brazilian is a combative presence, who adds pace and energy to United's defence and can also contribute further forward.

Playing his last match before retiring, the 40-year-old Dutch goalkeeper remains an imposing figure for opposing forwards thanks to his agile saves and total command of his penalty area.
