One of the most legendary footballers, Luka Modrić, has become the talk of the football world. The popular Croatian midfielder from Real Madrid had something to share, which led fans and the media to question things. Luka has officially confirmed his exit from Real Madrid following a glorious 13-year stint. Preparing to say goodbye after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, rumors about where he will be off to next.
Even if the Croatian did not say what he'll do next, there are one or two destinations, in Europe and out of Europe, where he can carry on his career next season. While he is nearing 40, Modrić will surely get ample offers that might tempt the six-time Champions League winner to begin a fresh journey outside Spain.
Five clubs that could sign the Real Madrid legend
The following are five possibilities that may be the next chapter in Modrić's illustrious career:
1. Dinamo Zagreb
It would be idyllic for Modrić to complete his career where it started. Dinamo Zagreb would provide Modrić with an excellent opportunity to not only collect even more silverware for his overabundant trophy cabinet, but also possibly still feature in the Champions League.
2. New York City FC
MLS is the most probable destination for Modrić. The Croatian can be the next ex-La Liga champion to take his ability to America. Although Inter Miami has a team packed with players Modrić is familiar with, such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez, and Jordi Alba, the Herons probably are not in a place where they can sign another big-name, expensive player. NYCFC, however, might be the ideal destination for Modrić.
3. Inter Miami
Inter Miami is top of the list of potential destinations for Modrić's signature. The David Beckham-owned club has already lured the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba to come and play there. Messi himself has personally sought Modrić's inclusion while expressing a desire to add more midfield muscle to the team. A draft contract will have Modrić pulling in $2.5 million per year until July 2026, which meets his desire to stay match-fit through the 2026 World Cup.
4. Al Nassr
Many past European greats, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar, have transitioned to the Saudi Pro League during their later years. Modrić might be the next in line to get a big contract to take his skills to Saudi Arabia, and Al Nassr needs another global superstar to join the team to return title-winning habits to the club.

Returning to Tottenham Hotspur would be a completely different story. Modrić made his mark at Tottenham before moving to Real Madrid. The Spurs faithful would be happy to see his know-how and leadership. Nevertheless, the Premier League's fast tempo and Modrić's age might be testing, so this option is less likely.
