NEW DELHI: Jamshedpur FC has made a significant addition to their squad for the remainder of the Indian Super League (ISL) season by signing 26-year-old forward Steve Ambri. Ambri is known for his versatile attacking abilities, offering a combination of pace and finesse to the team.
Expressing his excitement about Ambri's arrival, Jamshedpur FC's Head Coach Scott Cooper said, "At just 26 years old, Steve Ambri is an exciting player with significant experience in the strong French league and with Moldova's Sheriff Tiraspol."
Cooper highlighted Ambri's attributes, saying, "Being an international player, he comes with a great attitude, speed, physicality, goal-scoring skills, and fits our style of play, which will be a great asset for the club. We have seen him during the early stages, and he will fit right in straight away."
Ambri's ability to perform in various forward positions and his keen eye for goal make him a valuable addition to any team. He has represented both France and Guinea-Bissau in international football, earning call-ups to the France national under-20 football team in 2018 and making five appearances for Guinea-Bissau's national side, including the 2021 African Cup of Nations tournament.
With experience at clubs like Nimes Olympique in France, where he made a name for himself in Ligue 2, and Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, Ambri has contributed significantly to his teams with his goal-scoring prowess. He has even showcased his skills on the UEFA Europa League stage while representing Sheriff Tiraspol in the 2022-23 season.
Ambri's journey from grassroots French football to international recognition with Guinea-Bissau reflects his unwavering dedication and passion for the sport. Commenting on his move to Indian football and Jamshedpur FC, Ambri said, "This marks my first experience in Indian football, and I am thrilled to join Jamshedpur. Playing under the guidance of Scott is exciting, as our playing styles are harmonious. I am eager to contribute by scoring goals for both the club and the passionate fans."
