India vs Kuwait Highlights, SAFF Championship 2023 Final: India beat Kuwait 5-4 on penalties to win record 9th title

A determined Team India edged Kuwait in a tense penalty shootout to clinch a record ninth SAFF Championship title in Bengaluru on Tuesday. India finished with a score-line of 5-4 in the shoot-out after both sides were deadlocked 1-1 in 120 minutes in the summit clash.

118' - Just over the bar! Poojary makes a terrific run from the right flank, crosses to Chhangte, who fires in the ball but it goes just over.

114' - Alfahad tries to get the ball off Rohit on the left flank but ends up fouling. YELLOW Card shown.

110' - India and Kuwait players going down with cramps. Akash Mishra gets the medical attention and so does the Kuwait defender. Akash coming off and Shubhashish has replaced him.

Alotaibi fires in the ball from just outside the box but Mahesh makes a timely interception. The corner too is cleared by the Indian defence.

105 minutes into the contest and we are still awaiting the SAFF Championship champions. Both team unable to get the breakthrough in the first half of the extra time. A breather for players of both teams.

99' - Chhetri free-kick finds Udanta inside the box but the winger's successive pass is blocked for the Kuwait defender. The corner is also cleared by the Kuwait defence.

97' - Back-to-back corners for Kuwait but they fail to find the back of the net.

93' - Dashti makes a run from the left flank but Jhingan stays put, tackles and ensures the ball goes out for a corner. The corner is too cleared by India with ease.

A goal-less second half as India and Kuwait end regulation time at 1-1. A breather for the players of both teams and the match will then head into 30 minutes of extra-time.

94' - After a terrific save from Gurpreet, India respond with a counter-attack. Two shots taken but India miss on both occasions.

88' - Dangerous foul! Al Rasheedi brought down by Mahtab just outside the box. Free kick from Al Khaldi hits the Indian wall and goes clear.

78' - The crowd behind the Indian players. Akash fires in a long ball. Chhangte collects it but eventually loses it. Al Khaldi fouled by Jhingan but he gets away without being shown a second card.

57' - Akash gets in a lovely dribble from the left flank and goes past the defender. But he eventually loses the ball and fouls the marker.

A terrific run from Sahal as he passes the ball to Sunil Chhetri. The India skipper fails to get to the ball in time inside the Kuwait half as there is too much on the pass. Cleared easily for the goalkeeper.

48' - A terrific cross from Poojary from the right but Kuwait goalkeeper grabs the ball just in time ahead of Sunil Chhetri .

Kuwait get the second half underway of this SAFF Championship Final. No changes for both the teams at the break.

A cracking first half of the SAFF Championship final comes to an end. Kuwait started really well and got a deserving goal but India then fought their way back, earning the equaliser. Chhangte and Al Feneeni, the goal scorers in the first half. There were also plenty of fouls committed by both the teams. Kuwait getting three in a row in added time.

46' - The referee is in no non-sense mood. Al Bloushi gets a yellow card for protesting and a yellow for Al Dhefeery. Kuwait's assistant coach also got a yellow card for protesting.

42' - YELLOW CARD for Abu Jabarah for an earlier foul. India get a corner but it is long and no danger for Kuwait.

Chhangte gets in the equaliser for India. Kuruniyan grabs the ball after a failed clearance by Al Dhefeery. Passes to Sunil Chhetri, who then gets the ball to Sahal. He then crosses to Chhangte, who fires the ball into the net with ease. India 1-1 Kuwait

37' - A couple of long rangers from Kuwait. AlKhaldi tries one from the right and then Abdullah fires another from the middle of the park. Both off target.
