PANAJI: Sukhwinder Singh's resignation as technical director of Pailan Arrows may have come as a bolt from the blue for the federation's developmental side, but those who have been in the know maintain they saw it long time coming. Sukhwinder, in charge of theonly team in the I-League without a win in 16 matches, submitted his resignationto the All India Football Federation (AIFF), insisting he wanted to return tohis home in Punjab due to "personal reasons". But while, evidently,Sukhwinder has had personal setbacks in the last couple of months, it could havebeen his own men who drove him out of the team. "The tension wassimmering for quite some time. First the players that were recruited were not upto the mark, then the management started pointing a finger at Sukhi," said asource. "I have quit Pailan Arrows purely for personal reasons,"Sukhi told TOI. Coach Sujit Chakraborty and goalkeeping coach Tanumoy Basu willnow be in charge till the end of the season.
