Pereira aims to build on PFC experience
PUNE: After four productive years with Pune FC, Derrick Pereira will return at the end of this I-League season to take charge of Salgaocar FC.
It will be a return to the roots for Pereira, who hails from Goa and played for Salgoacar from where he earned his India cap.
"My heart is still with Pune FC. I have decided to move for personal reasons," Pereira said.
The former India defender would be investing in Salgaocar the wealth of knowledge he had gained through his stint with PFC and the erstwhile Mahindra United prior to that.

"I will be taking my experience that I have gained over the four years I have worked here and the four years I was with Mahindra United," he said.
"My goal has always been to help improve Indian football and I will be doing that in the future also."
PFC have been a pioneer of sorts in Indian football, putting in place a professional set-up and structure to nurture talent from the grassroots level.
Pereira said the Piramal Group-owned club should be given credit for leading the way in bringing a change in Indian football.
"We are the best so far, but there is always room to improve. The ultimate goal is to reach European level and PFC have shown the way. They are on the right track," he said.
"Not just PFC, every club in India should focus on youth development. The whole of India should take the initiative."
